Sophia Chiaia

M.S., Integrative Biological Diversity, WCSU '26
B.A., Biology, WCSU '23
​

Sophia graduated with a B.A. in biology and a minor in chemistry from WCSU in fall 2023.  She recently was accepted into the Master of Science in Integrative Biological Diversity program at WCSU and also works in the WCSU Tickborne Disease and Prevention Laboratory (Tick Lab) under a grant-funded position from the New England Center of Excellence in Vector-Borne Diseases (NEWVEC). She is pursuing a career in scientific research and would like to eventually enter a PhD program. When she is not monitoring tick populations around Connecticut, Sophia works at an animal shelter and is extremely passionate about wildlife. She dedicates her spare time to her friends, family, and pets!
